In this role, you will act as a subject matter expert, guiding multi-module application design, defining implementation roadmaps, and translating sophisticated business requirements into scalable technical solutions for the North American power and gas commodities markets.
This is a senior architectural leadership role requiring deep domain mastery in energy trading lifecycles, end-to-end platform deployments, and object-oriented systems design. You will create system design models, establish technology standards, evaluate architectural trade-offs to maximize business value within budget constraints, and provide direct technical direction to development and configuration teams. If you excel at solving enterprise-scale integration challenges within the energy and utilities sector, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Application Architecture & Solution Design
• Architecture Leadership: Design comprehensive application architecture for large-scale projects, multi-module solutions, and enterprise integrations.
• Requirements Breakdown: Conduct thorough business and solution functional breakdowns, mapping operational needs directly to architectural and configuration deliverables.
• Technical Specifications: Create system design models, architecture diagrams, data flow charts, and technical specifications to guide development and programming teams.
Implementation & Technical Delivery
• End-to-End Execution: Lead end-to-end enterprise trading platform implementations, upgrades, and enhancements across Front, Mid, and Back Office domains.
• Object-Oriented Design: Drive the development and implementation of robust object-oriented system designs, custom scripts, and workflow automations.
• Quality Assurance: Participate in the creation, validation, and execution of comprehensive test cases, ensuring all deliverables conform to enterprise architectural standards.
Strategy & Governance
• Technology Assessment: Assess potential changes to standards, work procedures, and emerging technologies, providing expert recommendations to leadership.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with business stakeholders, traders, risk managers, and IT teams to align system configurations, deal modeling, settlements, and P&L reporting capabilities with strategic goals.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related technical discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
• Experience Baseline: Minimum of 15+ years of professional IT/software engineering experience, with substantial specialized focus on enterprise trading and risk management (ETRM) platforms (specifically OpenLink Endur V25 and higher).
• Technical & Domain Mastery:
oProven track record of leading at least one full lifecycle ETRM implementation from conception to go-live.
oDeep expertise in US Power and Gas, Greenhouse Gas (GHG), and Resource Adequacy trading and settlement lifecycles.
oMinimum of 2+ years of dedicated specialization within at least one core domain (Front, Mid, or Back Office).
oProficiency in relational databases, MS SQL, and PL/SQL, alongside object-oriented programming languages (e.g., C# .NET, Java, C++).
oWorking knowledge of Endur JVS, Open Components, Deal Modeling, G-Motion, reference data, risk valuation, invoicing, and reporting modules.
Preferred Attributes
• Direct familiarity with ISO power markets (e.g., MISO, PJM, CAISO, ERCOT) including LMP, generation dispatch, and physical flows/tagging.
• Working familiarity with complex energy transactions: physical electricity contracts, financial swaps, variable-volume offtake agreements (wind and solar), load agreements, FTRs, and bilateral trade types.
• Strong leadership skills with high self-motivation, excellent presentation abilities, and a proven talent for aligning diverse business stakeholders around technical solutions.
