Job description

Under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor, this position will be responsible for creating clean, orderly, and attractive facilities in all our campus spaces. Spaces for daily or routine cleaning could include academic buildings, classroom settings, public/common spaces, offices and residence halls. This is a temporary position expected to last approximately eight weeks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Performs cleaning duties in all areas that are assigned.
  • Cleans floors with vacuums, dust mops and/or wet mops
  • Collects and removes trash and recyclable materials and deposits to designated areas
  • Cleans, polishes furniture/fixtures in assigned areas and arranges furniture and/or equipment as directed
  • Operates light power cleaning equipment and performs preventatives maintenance
  • Maintains adequate stock of supplies in bathrooms and storage areas
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED with proven housekeeping or hospitability expertise. Must have a working knowledge of trends and methods used for cleaning facilities. Minimum 2 years of housekeeping experience. Great people skills and ability to set and change priorities.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
This position is must have great attention for detail and pride in what they do. must have good interpersonal skills and be able to work well with supervisors, coworkers, University community and the public.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Normal interior building environment; typically standing and walking, hand or finger movement; occasionally lifting 25 lbs. or less; requires use of normal cleaning equipment.
