Job description

Port Patrol Officer

Provides restricted and non-restricted port patrols in accordance with Sitka Facility Security Plan (FSP); Security patrols for restricted and non-restricted areas of the Port; Understands and implements various Maritime Security (MARSEC) Level changes and implements required Port enforcement action; Responds to security threats and breaches, reporting such activities to the appropriate personnel; Conducts random vehicle/passenger screening; Uses handheld radios and cell phones; Performs other duties as assigned or as required by the position

Shifts will vary with Cruise Ship Schedule. Overtime may be required. These positions will not exceed seven (7) months.

Equivalent of one year employment in a position demonstrating capability to work responsibly with minimal supervision required. Experience in marine oriented positions preferred. Good communication and customer service skills are required. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Card

Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, or heavier weights with assistance or the use of proper equipment. Employees must possess the ability to walk several miles each day to perform necessary duties

ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS: Employees work in the field and are exposed to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, hazards, vibration, confined workspace, chemicals, mechanical and/or electrical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes. Employees are required to wear appropriate attire for the work assigned.
