Job description

Position Summary

The Courier I is responsible for driving, transporting, picking up, delivering between buildings, offices, and other businesses.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Transports supplies, material and equipment from clinic to other locations and within clinic including laboratory specimens, medical records/charts, x-rays, bank deposits, paychecks, mail, office supplies, and medical equipment.
  • Picks up, sorts and distributes items to/from assigned locations.
  • Seeks resolution of customer problems including searching for missing items.
  • Completes related paperwork such as pickup/delivery logs, mileage reports.
  • Maintains regular schedule and communicates any temporary changes. Carries cell phone and communicates frequently with supervisor.
  • Ensures that the courier vehicle is maintained including fueling, cleaning, reporting repair needs.
  • The job holder must demonstrate current competencies to meet job requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Compensation starts at $15.00 per hour, with the final hourly rate determined by the candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of safe driving and vehicle maintenance practices.
  • Knowledge of how to read maps of community and clinic layout.
  • Knowledge of handling biohazard materials safely.
  • Skill in understanding of handling bloodborne pathogens using universal precautions following OSHA guidelines.
  • Skill in driving car or van in all types of weather.
  • Skill in principles of customer service, scheduling and time management.
  • Ability to work scheduled hours as defined in the job offer.
  • Ability to read English and follow instructions.
  • Ability to interact courteously and communicate effectively with many different kinds of customers.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and organize time well.

Education / Training / Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Valid state driver's license. Must be insurable and bondable.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to drive.
  • Ability to lift or move equipment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for limited periods of time.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 30 lbs. *
