Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Groundman would be to support the utility crew and help direct traffic in a safe manner. May also be responsible for setting up safety cones and other temporary equipment to direct traffic, assisting with unloading materials, digging trenches, and other tasks on the job site. Must be able to work safely around trenchers, backhoes, track hoes, plows, line trucks, bucket trucks, bobcat loaders, etc. Assist the crew on the ground to complete work orders safely and efficiently.
Requirements:
  • Must pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Must have a positive and cooperative attitude and excellent attendance.
  • Must be able to get along with fellow workers, other tradesmen on the jobsite, inspectors, customers, and the public.
  • Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must properly use safety equipment and personal protective equipment.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of all types of hand tools.

  • Work is primarily performed in outdoor environments in all/extreme weather conditions.
  • This position requires physical activity including extended periods of standing and walking, frequent sitting, kneeling, bending, crouching, reaching, stooping and climbing.
  • Requires the ability to frequently lift and/or carry materials and/or supplies and other materials weighing up to 50 lbs. Occasional lifting and/or carrying of materials and/or supplies weighing up to 100 lbs.
