Construction Manager, North America Capital Projects
Build the Future of Industrial Manufacturing
Are you an experienced construction leader who excels at managing complex capital projects in active industrial environments? Do you enjoy leading contractors, solving field challenges, and driving projects safely from planning through startup? If so, we invite you to join our Capital Projects team as a Construction Manager, North America Capital Projects.
In this highly visible role, you will lead the construction execution of major capital investments across North America, partnering with engineering, operations, and project leadership teams to deliver projects that improve and expand our manufacturing capabilities. Your expertise will directly influence safety performance, project outcomes, and the long-term success of our facilities.
What You'll Do
As the Construction Manager, you will serve as the subject matter expert for construction execution, contractor management, and field leadership across a portfolio of capital projects. You will help shape projects during planning and lead safe, efficient execution through commissioning and turnover.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead Safe and Successful Project Execution
  • Own construction safety, quality, cost, and schedule performance across assigned capital projects.
  • Lead field construction activities and ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and local regulations.
  • Drive contractor performance and cultivate a strong safety-first culture on every project site.
  • Manage construction progress, issue resolution, risk mitigation, and project reporting.

Influence Projects Early
  • Provide critical input during Front End Loading (FEL), including:
    • Constructability reviews
    • Contracting and execution strategies
    • Construction sequencing plans
    • Project execution planning
    • Scope development and estimating support
    • Integrated schedule development

Manage Contractors and Construction Strategy
  • Develop construction scopes of work and staffing plans.
  • Lead contractor qualification, selection, and contracting processes.
  • Oversee contract execution, performance management, and change management activities.
  • Review design and construction packages for completeness, constructability, and bid readiness.

Drive Collaboration Across Teams
  • Partner closely with project managers, engineering teams, operations, safety professionals, contract administrators, and site stakeholders.
  • Coordinate execution in operating facilities while minimizing disruption to ongoing operations.
  • Facilitate effective communication between owners, contractors, and project teams throughout project execution.
  • Support permitting, commissioning, startup, and handover activities to deliver successful project outcomes.

Provide Leadership and Expertise
  • Lead large, complex, multi-discipline construction projects.
  • Provide mentoring, oversight, and construction expertise to other project teams as needed.
  • Ensure timely and accurate project reporting, including daily, weekly, and monthly construction updates.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent construction leadership experience.
  • 5-15 years of industrial construction experience, including capital project execution.
  • Direct experience serving as a Construction Manager on industrial capital projects.
  • Experience in manufacturing, chemical, energy, utilities, mining, or other industrial environments.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, contractor oversight, safety management, and project execution practices.
  • Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders in active operating facilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout North America (approximately 50%) based on project needs.

Preferred Experience
  • Knowledge of high-risk construction activities and associated risk management practices.
  • Experience with permitting, AHJ requirements, work authorization processes, commissioning, startup, and operational turnover.
  • Experience managing large, multidisciplinary industrial construction projects in complex operating environments.
