Job description

CNC Machinist – Level 3

We are seeking a highly experienced and dependable**CNC Machinist – Level 3 **to join a safety-focused, high-performing manufacturing operation in Lenexa, KS. This is a senior-level role for machinists who can work independently, maintain tight tolerances, and consistently deliver high-quality parts in a structured ISO 9001 environment. This is **not **an entry-level or training position.

Work Conditions:Manufacturing / Machine Shop Environment (ISO 9001)

Pay:Starting around $30.00/hr (up to $34–$36/hr for strong, proven experience)

Work Hours:1st Shift – Monday – Friday, 6:00am – 2:30pm

Overtime:Required as needed (early starts, extended shifts, occasional Saturdays; approx. up to 20 hrs/month depending on production demand)

Position Summary:

The CNC Machinist – Level 3 will independently set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines to produce precision components to exact specifications. This role requires strong blueprint reading skills, advanced measurement capability, and the confidence to troubleshoot and adjust processes without close supervision. The ideal candidate takes pride in quality, accuracy, and reliability and contributes to continuous improvement efforts.

Essential Functions / Job Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, and monitor CNC mills and/or lathes to produce precision parts.

  • Read and accurately interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.

  • Perform precise measurements using calipers, micrometers, and other inspection tools.

  • Verify part quality and make offsets or adjustments as required.

  • Identify tooling issues, worn tools, and process concerns; take corrective action.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area in compliance with safety standards.

  • Collaborate with production and machine shop teams to meet schedules and throughput goals.

  • Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accountability for quality and output.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and problem-solving efforts.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 4+ years of hands-on CNC machining experience (required).

  • Proven ability to work independently without close supervision.

  • Strong blueprint reading and precision measurement skills.

  • Experience operating CNC mills and/or lathes in a manufacturing or job shop environment.

  • Familiarity with CNC machine controllers (must clearly articulate machines and controls used).

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

  • Reliable attendance and consistent work history.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with production machining and tight-tolerance work.

  • ISO 9001 manufacturing environment experience.

  • Ability to troubleshoot machining issues and improve processes.

  • Strong communication skills and team-oriented mindset.
