Job description

Job Title: CNC MachinistJob Description

This role focuses on operating CNC mills and lathes to produce precision parts in batch sizes ranging from 25 to 500 pieces. You will perform quality checks, including first-piece inspections, and complete all required documentation. Set-up experience is not required, and comprehensive training is provided. You will operate one machine at a time rather than working in a cell environment.

Responsibilities
  • Operate CNC mills and lathes to produce parts in quantities ranging from 25 to 500 pieces according to production requirements.
  • Perform first-piece inspections on each new run to verify dimensions, tolerances, and overall part quality.
  • Conduct ongoing precision measurements and quality inspections throughout production using tools such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to ensure parts are machined to the correct specifications and tolerances.
  • Accurately complete all inspection and production documentation for each job, including first-piece and in-process inspection records.
  • Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot minor issues to maintain consistent quality and productivity.
  • Perform basic machine operation tasks such as tool changes and changeovers as trained.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow shop safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet realistic production goals and quality standards.
  • Participate in training to learn set-up tasks and expand skills over time.
Essential Skills
  • 1–3+ years of CNC machining experience operating mills and/or lathes, or equivalent hands-on training from a CNC program or school.
  • 1–3+ years of experience performing precision measurements and quality inspections in a machining or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and machining drawings.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Experience with CNC machine operation, including CNC mills, CNC lathes, and horizontal mills.
  • Ability to perform basic troubleshooting on CNC machines to address minor issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
  • Ability to complete inspection and production documentation accurately and legibly.
  • Reliability in adhering to scheduled shift hours and overtime as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Any CNC set-up knowledge or experience is a plus.
  • Experience with changeovers, tool changes, and basic tooling practices in a machine shop environment.
  • Familiarity with machine shop operations and machining processes.
  • Comfort working with inspection tools and performing first-piece and in-process inspections.
  • Willingness to learn additional set-up responsibilities to expand role and earning potential over time.
Why Work Here?

You will join a clean, well-organized shop that sets realistic expectations for production and values quality over rushed output. The company offers clear opportunities for pay improvement as you demonstrate your skills and learn set-up tasks, supported by annual performance reviews with potential raises. You benefit from a culture that invests in training, supports entry-level talent from CNC programs, and provides stable work with ongoing overtime opportunities.

This position is on first shift, running from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with overtime available.
