Position Title
Full-Time Nursing Faculty
Job Summary
This is a full-time, nine-month faculty position in the Nursing program with a primary focus on mental and community health nursing and may include opportunities to teach additional courses across the curriculum. The faculty member will support student learning and progression by fostering clinical judgment, professional behaviors, and readiness for practice. The role also involves partnering with a variety of clinical and community sites to help students understand the breadth of nursing practice and gain exposure to diverse care settings. Instruction is delivered primarily in face-to-face classroom, clinical, and lab settings, and on-campus presence is required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to effectively manage courses, clinical rotations, and student support.
  • Ability to collaborate with faculty, clinical partners, and administration to support program outcomes, accreditation standards, and student success.
  • Knowledge of current nursing practices, clinical standards, and patient safety principles, with the ability to integrate them into classroom, lab, and clinical instruction.
  • Ability to supervise and evaluate students in clinical and simulation settings, ensuring safe, ethical, and competent nursing practice.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development in nursing practice, education strategies, and evidence-based teaching.

Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher in nursing (Candidates who will graduate with a Master's degree in nursing within a year of starting this position may still apply)
  • Equivalent of two (2) years' full-time work in clinical practice
  • Current license as an RN in Illinois
  • CPR certified and current immunizations as required by clinical agencies
  • Two (2) years of teaching or training experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and positive energy regarding professional education
  • Established ability to work effectively as a team member
  • Demonstrated skills in effective communication in English, both spoken and written

Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year full-time work in mental health or community health nursing
  • Teaching experience at a community college
  • Experience with electronic medical records
  • Familiarity with high and low fidelity simulations to enhance student learning

Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand and lecture for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform tasks associated with laboratory and clinical instructional activities.

  • Perform instructional duties to ensure high-quality nursing education, including organizing and conducting classroom, lab, simulation, and clinical experiences in accordance with course and program schedules.
  • Evaluate student performance through clinical assessments, simulations, skills check-offs, coursework, and examinations, providing timely, constructive feedback to support student progression and retention.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment by maintaining clear, consistent communication and actively engaging students in their academic and clinical success.
  • Develop and maintain course materials, including syllabi and clinical documents, in alignment with approved curriculum, program outcomes, and accreditation standards.
  • Supervise and evaluate students in clinical settings to ensure safe, ethical, and competent nursing practice while collaborating with clinical site staff.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, program evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives with a focus on student success and licensure readiness.
  • Work with Director of Nursing and staff to implement institutional, program, and course student learning outcomes that meet HLC and ACEN accreditation standards
  • Participate in faculty meetings, committee work, and shared governance to support program quality, student retention, and community partnerships.
