Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Area Trainer willbe responsible foroverseeing the Handlers to ensure cargo screenings are done in compliance withTSA rules and regulations.

PAY TRANSPARANCY/COMPENSATION

  • Pay rate is compensated at $75,000/year

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide supervision and training to assigned Handlers and canines related to operational searches and training
  • Perform canine training, audits and administrative deliverables asrequiredfor assigned Canine Teams
  • Schedule and conduct reoccurring train teams for recertification's and remedial, sustainment, and advancementtraining
  • Provide temporary certified Handler duties asrequiredfor the program
  • Participatein CCSP related training to search cargo andidentifyexplosive threats
  • Perform temporary Handler duties while commanding a trained explosive working dog as required for the program
  • Responsible formaintainingtraining records, care, and maintenance of assigned certified canine.The assigned canine must be permitted to live inside the employee's residence.The employee's residence must be adequate, indoor, and climate-controlled for the canine. The canine living area at the employee's residence is subject to reoccurring inspections.
  • Develop and follow established training protocolsin accordance withstatements of work and standard operating procedures
  • Arrange operational exercisesin order toreplicate real life operational scenarios and enable canines to work independently in high population density environments with people moving to and from mass transit environments
  • Transport, secure, and account for canine training aids, equipment, company vehicles, canine trailers, company assets, and resources
  • Will conduct OJT and instruction of new Handlers and Trainers
  • Mustmaintainall job-related certifications andrequiredsecurity clearances
  • Must be willing tooperatecompany vehicle
  • Must be able to obtain DoT and HAZMAT licenses
  • Inventory explosive training aids
  • Travel of up to 70% to contract locations Nationwide
  • Work conditions can vary from a busy training environment to fieldwork, both subject to frequent interruptions. Frequent work outsideand ininclement weather conditions isrequired, including heat, cold, and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Work hours will be dictated by the customers agreed upon schedule. Nights, weekends, and holiday hours will berequired, and the work schedule will vary. Travel may also berequired
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • U.S. Citizenship isrequired
  • Minimum of five years of experience training canines and teams in explosive detection
  • Three years of documented experience handling an explosive detection dog in an operational environment
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred
  • Must be able to obtain a Known Traveler Number (KTN) within four to six weeks of employmentrequired
  • Must have adequate transportation to transport assigned Canine and Crate (inside the vehicle) to/from assigned work location; transportation must have operational climate control
  • Must be able to pass the applicable Contract Testing and Certifications for the program within four to six weeks of employment; candidate mustmaintainthe certification requirements
  • Demonstratedexperience in solving unique training problems with detection dogs and team and knowledgeable of how to evaluate and apply canine training principles,conditioningand standards
  • Must have a valid Driver's License and a clear driving record for the last three years; must also bemaintainedduring tenure of employment
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion
  • Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Must be able to lift and carryvarious itemsweighing up to 100 lbs. Requires standing forlong periodsof time in all weather conditions. Requires intermittent sitting, walking, running, climbing, squatting, stretching, bending, and kneeling. Requires constant use of hands and fingers to feel, handle oroperateobjects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms
