Job description

The Steve Schmitt Collision Center is seeking an experienced Auto Body Technician to join our growing team in Highland, Illinois. As a key member of our collision repair team, you will help restore customer vehicles to like-new condition while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

$10,000 SIGNING BONUS!

Compensation: $75,000 – $120,000+ per year

Pay Frequency: Bi-weekly

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality collision repairs on Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Ford, and other vehicle makes and models.
  • Inspect and evaluate vehicle damage and develop repair plans in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Repair or replace damaged body panels, structural components, and related parts.
  • Operate collision repair equipment, tools, and measuring systems safely and efficiently.
  • Document repairs performed and materials used throughout the repair process.
  • Communicate repair progress and status updates with the Body Shop Manager.
  • Coordinate with the Parts Department to ensure timely availability of necessary parts and materials.
  • Maintain productivity while meeting quality standards and repair deadlines.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety requirements.
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and federal, state, and local regulations, including hazardous material handling and disposal requirements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of collision repair experience required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Collision repair or vocational training preferred, but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle repair procedures, tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Ability to read and follow repair orders, estimates, and manufacturer repair procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment.
