Job description

Description:

Bertrandt is seeking experienced Automotive Technicians to support prototype vehicle retrofit, rework, troubleshooting, and assembly activities at the Scout Motors facility in Blythewood, SC.


Technicians will perform hands-on work on prototype vehicles, including component removal and installation, vehicle modifications, troubleshooting, repair, and rework. We are seeking candidates with experience in general automotive assembly, vehicle electrical systems, wiring harnesses, or Body-in-White (BIW)/spot welding.


Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM
Employment Type: Temporary Contract

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform retrofit, rework, repair, and modification of prototype vehicles.
  • Remove and reinstall interior and exterior vehicle components and trim.
  • Diagnose and correct vehicle assembly, fitment, and quality concerns.
  • Follow technical instructions, drawings, work procedures, and engineering direction.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure proper fit, function, and quality.
  • Document vehicle issues, repairs, modifications, and completed work as required.
  • Safely use automotive hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and/or electrical concerns depending on experience.
  • Support prototype builds and vehicle updates in a fast-paced workshop environment.
  • Follow all site safety procedures and prototype vehicle handling requirements.

Qualifications

  • Previous hands-on automotive technician, mechanic, assembly, prototype, or vehicle rework experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work directly on vehicles.
  • Ability to follow detailed technical instructions and work independently.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail when working with prototype and pre-production vehicles.
  • Ability to safely operate automotive tools and equipment.
  • Experience in BIW/spot welding, automotive electrical systems, wiring harnesses, or general vehicle assembly is strongly preferred depending on the opening.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; automotive or technical training is a plus.

Work Environment & Safety


This is an onsite, hands-on automotive position. Technicians will work in a workshop environment supporting prototype vehicles.

Required PPE includes:

  • Over-the-ankle safety shoes
  • Hard hat
  • Safety glasses
  • High-visibility safety vest

Additional consumable PPE may be provided onsite.

Technicians will also complete required site safety, security/badging, Scout-specific safety, and high-voltage awareness training before beginning vehicle work.
