Description

 The Community Outreach Assistant is responsible for supporting a wide range of  responsibilities undertaken by PRCKC's Outreach Team. In order to meet the needs of pets and their families throughout the Kansas City metro area, our Outreach Team strives to keep an active presence in the community through neighborhood patrols, collection and distribution of donated pet food and supplies, coordinating medical transports to and from the clinic, and much more. This position requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills, the ability to complete manual/physical work in all weather conditions, and a passion for nonjudgmental community engagement and animal welfare. The Community Outreach Assistant reports directly to the Manager of Community Engagement. 

Requirements

Responsibilities:


Community Outreach

  • Patrol high-need areas in a company vehicle and engage with pet owners to provide food, resources, and information.
  • Fulfill pet food and resource deliveries to clients who are homebound or lack transportation.
  • Provide case management to clients in order to assist with ongoing needs and monitor for changes in situation.
  • Canvass in neighborhoods throughout the metro to connect pet owners to our low-cost services and events.
  • Assist walk-in clients with resource/outreach requests in the clinic.

Donation Procurement & Distribution

  • Pick up, deliver, and organize donated pet food and resources, typically several pallet's-worth. This process includes the rental, operating, and return of a box truck.
  • Meet with partner organizations on a monthly/bi-monthly basis to distribute donations. 

Medical Transports

  • Collaborate with our clients and clinic team to schedule pets for spay/neuter or urgent care transports. 
  • Transport pets safely to and from the clinic in a company vehicle.
  • Thoroughly complete and organize all documentation. 

Administrative Tasks

  • Use of Ezyvet database to manage client accounts.
  • Accurate prep, completion and organization of client forms.
  • Accurate, prompt completion of data entry after events.
  • Daily oversight and organization of the outreach email inbox.
  • Prompt, professional responses to emails and phone calls.

Supply Prep & Fleet Maintenance

  • Organize and prepare supplies for various community events and outreach activities
  • Deep-clean and organize company vehicles to ensure they are ready for use at all times and are clean, safe, and sanitary.

  • Prompt response to needs, requests, and situational changes
  • Clean driving record & ability to drive/learn to drive Transit vans and box trucks
  • Ability to work in all weather extremes
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Frequently required to stand, sit, bend, stoop, and walk.
  • Often required to lift, push, carry items less than 25 lbs and over 50 lbs.
  • Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions (including below 0 and over 100 degree temps)
  • Occasional exposure to zoonotic bloodborne and airborne pathogens or potentially infectious materials (ex.: feline/canine blood, urine, feces, etc.)
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise (ex.: barking dogs)
  • Frequently required to use specialized equipment including pallet jacks, dollies, and vehicles including Transit vans and box trucks. 

Our Offer:

  • Part-time schedule: Mondays-Thursdays, 7:30-4:00 pm
  • Pay: $16.00-$17.00/hour, experience-dependent
