Job description

Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking an Environmental Control Systems Operator for our client, responsible for managing and maintaining the environmental systems that ensure optimal water quality, safety, and compliance within industrial facilities. This role involves operating complex control systems, performing equipment repairs, and monitoring water and wastewater treatment processes.

This is a temporary contract position (580 hours duration) with the potential to convert to a permanent position.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) to regulate environmental control equipment.

  • Conduct routine equipment inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure continuous system functionality.

  • Manage water treatment and wastewater treatment processes, ensuring compliance with environmental standards.

  • Collect data related to system performance, water quality parameters, and operational metrics for analysis.

  • Perform heavy equipment operation and assist with construction or maintenance projects as needed.

  • Handle plumbing tasks, perform basic math calculations for system adjustments, and execute heavy lifting tasks safely.

  • Maintain detailed records of system operations, repairs, and inspections for reporting and compliance purposes.

  • Support equipment calibration, preventive maintenance schedules, and emergency response procedures.

  • Collaborate with team members to optimize system performance and implement process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS).

  • Mechanical knowledge related to water treatment, wastewater treatment, plumbing, and heavy equipment operation.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data accurately.

  • Experience in equipment repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting within industrial or environmental settings.

  • Basic math skills necessary for system calibration and process calculations.

  • Knowledge of construction procedures related to environmental infrastructure projects is a plus.

  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate heavy machinery when required.

  • Familiarity with safety protocols related to water treatment facilities and environmental compliance.

  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Schedule

  • Monday thru Friday, 8 hour days.

  • Initial training period 5am starts, afterwards move to 9am starts.

Starting Pay

  • $37/hr
