Job description

Overview
The CDL Driver will be responsible for ensuring timely deliveries of chemical and detail goods to predetermined customers on specific routes. The role will also be responsible for reviewing orders prior to delivery, loading and unloading trucks, and providing exceptional customer service to our client base. Some overnight travel. Overnight travel could be 2-3 nights per week. This is a premium position that may also require occasional travel to other Sonny's facilities to support customer deliveries for the purposes of temporary backfill as part of Sonny's final mile customer delivery program.

Responsibilities
• Deliver to sites and customers on assigned routes in a safe and timely matter
• Analyze delivery address, determine appropriate routes, and maintain schedule
• Conduct inspections of vehicles before departing to deliver goods
• Pack and load products onto trucks according to company's specifications
• Unload goods as per client and Sonny's final mile or traditional delivery program specifications
• Stocking customer backroom shelves in accordance with company guidelines
• Review orders before and after delivery and obtain delivery confirmations
• Review deliveries with customers to ensure products meet their needs and customer is satisfied
• Abiding by all transportation laws and maintaining a safe driving record
• Preparing reports and other documents relating to deliveries
• Maintain ongoing communication with dispatch personnel
• Check in with warehouse on delivery progress as needed
• Always keep vehicle organized, clean and tidy
• Report any accidents or injuries to supervisor immediately
• Work with support team to provide exceptional customer service and address customer concerns
• Maintain driving log, prepare vehicle performance forms including, Performance and documentation of Daily Vehicle Pre-Trip, en-route, post trip inspection to ensure vehicle and equipment safety
• Provide special care in delivering fragile and hazardous products
• Travel as required to support temporary backfill situations in support of Sonny's final mile program
• Safely operate commercial vehicles Class A or B CDL required to transport Hazardous Materials
• Load, secure, and unload hazardous materials ensuring compliance with proper placarding and segregation rules
• Maintain accurate and compliant shipping papers including emergency response information
• Use appropriate PPE as required during loading/unloading or spill response
• All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Valid Driver's license issued by the state where you intend to work
• Clean Driving Record
• 3+ years of experience preferred as a Delivery Driver
• Drivers under 1 year of experience are required to have ELDT (Entry-Level Driver Training) certification
• Strong time management and customer service skills
• Willingness to adhere to assigned routes, schedules, safety procedures and transportation laws.
• Ability to walk, drive, lift and carry heavy items for extended periods of time
• Travel required.
• Current Sonny's employees may receive financial assistance with obtaining a CDL and/or Hazmat Endorsement.
• CDL Required
• HAZMAT endorsement required.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
• Will require heavy lifting (lifting greater than 55 pounds).
Materials and Equipment Used: Will require proper coordination, and motor skills to operate vehicles
