Robert Half is hiring! We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to support and enhance critical infrastructure operations in Columbia, South Carolina area. This position plays a key role in keeping enterprise systems reliable, secure, and scalable across network and server environments. The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth across networking, Microsoft platforms, and virtualization, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with support teams and business stakeholders.


Responsibilities:

• Oversee the performance, upkeep, and rollout of core infrastructure components, including servers and network hardware, to support ongoing operations and technology initiatives.

• Configure, maintain, and resolve issues within Microsoft identity and access platforms, ensuring dependable authentication and access control services.

• Manage enterprise network environments across wired, wireless, cloud, and firewall technologies while driving stability, connectivity, and security improvements.

• Partner with information security personnel to implement and support infrastructure controls that protect systems and data.

• Provide advanced technical guidance to project teams and external implementers when specialized infrastructure expertise is needed.

• Advise IT leadership on emerging tools, operational improvements, and practical opportunities to strengthen infrastructure services.

• Coordinate with business-facing IT partners to communicate technical changes, align expectations, and minimize disruption to users.

• Serve as a senior escalation resource for service desk teams by diagnosing and resolving complex infrastructure and network incidents.

• At least 5 years of experience in a comparable infrastructure, systems, or network engineering role.
• Hands-on expertise with Cisco and/or Aruba networking for wired and wireless environments.
• Experience supporting firewall platforms such as Palo Alto or Fortinet.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure networking, Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Microsoft 365 including Entra ID.
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere and/or Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Practical scripting or automation experience using Microsoft PowerShell.
• Exposure to endpoint and device management tools such as Intune and/or Apple Business Manager.
• Experience in manufacturing, food production, pharmaceutical, or similarly regulated industrial environments is preferred.
