Azure DevOps Engineer (PaaS / Terraform- Automation & CI/CD)

  • Location: Downers Grove, IL or Quincy, MA
  • 12 Months + contract
  • Hybrid – 1-2 days/week in the office.

Overview

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Azure Platform Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, automating, and maintaining scalable cloud platform solutions within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem. You will work closely with cloud architects, developers, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, resilient, and cost-effective solutions.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with platform engineering, automation, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and enabling cloud-native application deployment and operations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Experience: 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure Automation, or related roles, with at least 2+ years supporting solutions on Microsoft Azure.

Programming & Automation: Experience building automation, integrations, and tooling using Java and/or Python.

Azure Platform Services: Hands-on experience supporting and enabling Azure App Service, Azure Functions, and containerized workloads (Docker, Azure Container Registry).

Infrastructure as Code: Strong experience with Terraform for provisioning Azure App Service and Azure Functions for Infrastructure as a code ( IaC)

CI/CD: Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines using Harness and/or similar deployment platforms.

Security Best Practices: Solid understanding of cloud security principles, identity management, access controls, and secrets management.

Version Control: Proficiency with Git and branching strategies.

Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate across technical and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)

Cloud Migration: Experience migrating legacy on-premises applications to Azure PaaS/Serverless architectures.

Containers: Experience with containerization and modern deployment practices and deploying to AKS or Azure container Apps

Infrastructure Automation: Experience developing reusable infrastructure modules and automation frameworks.

Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204) or Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305).

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES

Platform Engineering: Build and maintain reusable cloud platform capabilities that enable application teams to deploy and operate solutions efficiently within Azure.

Infrastructure Automation: Develop, maintain, and enhance Terraform-based automation and reusable deployment patterns.

CI/CD & Automation: Build, support, and improve deployment pipelines using Harness and other automation tools.

Platform Enablement: Support deployment, automation, and operational excellence for Azure-hosted applications and services.

Security & Governance: Implement cloud security standards, access controls, secrets management, and governance best practices.

Monitoring & Optimization: Leverage Azure monitoring and observability tools to proactively identify issues, improve reliability, and enhance operational efficiency.

Collaboration: Partner with architects, developers, operations teams, and business stakeholders to support modernization initiatives, cloud adoption, and continuous improvement efforts.

The anticipated hourly rate range for this position is ($55- 65). Actual hourly rate will be based on a variety of factors including relevant experience, knowledge, skills and other factors permitted by law. A range of medical, dental, retirement and/or other benefits are available after a waiting period.
