INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER POSITION SUMMARY

The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing the organization’s Microsoft Azure cloud environment. This role will be part of a growing internal cloud infrastructure team and will collaborate closely with existing IT and infrastructure staff to support scalable, secure, and reliable cloud operations.

INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, deploy, and maintain Azure infrastructure including Windows Server virtual machines, App Services, Azure SQL Databases, Storage Accounts, Recovery Services Vaults, and supporting services
  • Configure and maintain Azure networking including virtual networks, subnets, network security groups, VNet peerings, route tables, private endpoints, private and public DNS zones, point-to-site and site-to-site VPNs, Azure Firewall, Web Application Firewall, and Azure Front Door
  • Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, backup, and disaster recovery solutions using native Azure services or third-party tools
  • Troubleshoot, resolve, and identify root causes of complex Azure issues across compute, networking, identity, and applications
  • Establish and enforce Azure best practices and standards as the environment grows

INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Equivalent professional experience may be considered)
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure
  • Demonstrated experience building, operating, and maintaining Azure environments
  • Deep working knowledge of Azure IaaS and PaaS offerings
  • Proficiency with Azure networking concepts including segmentation, hybrid connectivity patterns, and traffic flow
  • Solid understanding of Azure RBAC, including control plane versus data plane permissions
  • Proficiency with PowerShell and Azure CLI for automation and administration
  • Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to produce clear runbooks and diagrams
  • Ability to translate business requirements into architecture decisions


INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Network+, or equivalent
  • Experience supporting cloud or hybrid networking environments
  • Experience in enterprise or public-sector IT environments

INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER SCHEDULE

  • Full-Time
  • Primarily office or remote work
  • On-call or after-hours support may be required for critical incidents or maintenance
