Job description

Position Description: Assists the nursing faculty by supervising the clinical practice and learning skills of nursing students in the nursing simulation labs and/or at the clinical health care facility. Position Responsibilities: 45.00% - Implement laboratory experiences and/or clinical experiences to facilitate student learning, nursing process, and relevant nursing procedures. Guides students in applying theory to clinical practice. 45.00% - Assess the performance of the students in the laboratory and or clinical setting. Assists nursing faculty in evaluating student progress by: maintaining detailed clinical records, identifying students needing extra help and referring them to nursing faculty, assisting in final clinical evaluation of students. 5.00% - Attends nursing faculty meetings and provide input into the curriculum. 5.00% - Performs other duties as needed or assigned. Expectations: Cooperatively work with internal departments and partners to promote affiliations that encourage, ensure, and maximize instructional and support services for students and faculty. Exhibit a professional work environment and appearance. Maintain an understanding of the College's instructional policies and procedures and utilize them in conjuction with managing areas of responsibility. Maintain confidentiality. Attend meetings and participate in committees as appropriate. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience - Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in Kansas and have 3 or more years of Medical-Surgical Nursing Experience. Education - Practical Nursing Clinicals: Bachelor Degree in Nursing
Associate Degree Nursing Clinicals: Masters degree in Nursing or a BSN working towards a Masters degree in Nursing and files a degree plan.
Other Skills - Demonstrates proficiency as a professional nurse and a positive attitude towards nursing students in the clinical setting. Physical Requirements: The work requires moderate physical exertion such as long periods of standing, repetitively lifting lightweight objects with frequent bending or stooping, recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as computer, printers or record boxes. Occasionally lifts heavy objects (over 50 pounds). Job requires average agility and dexterity. Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as body fluids, toxic laboratory, industrial chemicals, confined, dirty and noisy locations. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment such as masks, coats, gowns, boots, goggles, gloves, or shields. Wages/Other: The hourly wage for this position is $30.00 per hour.
