Assembly Technician I

Location: Lenexa, KS
Pay Rate: $18.00/hour
Shift: 1st Shift | Monday–Thursday | 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Position Summary

Express Employment Professionals is currently seeking an Assembly Technician I for a leading manufacturing company in Lenexa, KS. Under the direction of the Manufacturing Supervisor, this position plays a critical role in assembling components to form complete units or subassemblies on a production line or workbench using hand and powered tools. Successful candidates will be safety-conscious, dependable, and committed to producing high-quality products in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform repetitive assembly operations.
  • Assemble fan components using hand, pneumatic, and electric tools and fixtures.
  • Follow detailed written and verbal work instructions.
  • Consistently use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
  • Assist in maintaining housekeeping and cleanliness standards throughout the work area.
  • Affix labels and identification markings to finished products.
  • Test and inspect completed units to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards.
  • Package finished products for shipment and place materials on pallets as required.
  • Operate equipment such as drill presses, punch presses, riveting machines, sealing machines, staple guns, and nail guns to support assembly operations.
  • Perform various production tasks as needed to meet manufacturing schedules.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and adherence to all company safety requirements.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum 6 months of assembly experience required; 1 year of assembly experience preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to bend, reach, and work at ground level and above shoulder height.
  • Must be able to stand and walk throughout the workday, up to 10 hours per shift.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, gloves, and face shields.


Work Environment

  • Fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to machinery, moderate noise levels, and varying temperatures.
  • May be exposed to repetitive sounds from machinery and equipment.
  • May work with chemicals in accordance with MSDS guidelines.
  • Requires strict adherence to safety procedures and teamwork in a production-driven environment.
