Job description

Job Title: Producer - Temporary
Location: LA
ABOUT THE ROLE & TEAM:
TelevisaUnivision at Univision LA is looking for a temporary Producer to join our team! You will work with reporters to conceptualize, coordinate, and approve story packages to conform to station policies, practices, and procedures. You will work with assignment editors and newsroom managers to assign stories and monitor story coverage. A strong understanding of rundown building, timing, pacing, and overall newscast execution is essential for this role.
ABOUT YOU:
The ideal candidate must love breaking news and understand how to best reach audiences on different platforms.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:
• Must be able to originate and develop story ideas and concepts.
• Build and manage daily rundowns with strong editorial judgment, pacing, and production awareness.
• Research, write, and produce stories for air. Responsible for story placement, teases, graphics, writing, timing, and all other editorial and production elements.
• Work with reporters, video journalists, photographers, assignment desk, and editors in news story production.
• Coordinate graphic production for the newscast.
• Contribute story ideas and participate actively in coverage decisions of special news programs.
• Monitor breaking news and make quick editorial decisions under deadline pressure.
YOU HAVE:
• Experience in Journalism/Mass Communications or equivalent two years' experience preferred.
• At least two years of newsroom experience in a medium to large market and proven ability to showcase and execute a compelling newscast.
• Strong rundown-building skills and the ability to manage timing in a fast-paced control room environment.
• Must be PC proficient - Word, Excel, Outlook, and social media platforms.
• Experience with iNews as well as basic editing skills.
• Knowledge of newsroom systems, Interplay, scanners, teleprompters, edit bays, live trucks, LiveU, cameras, audio boards, and decks.
• Familiarity with video and wire services.
• Requires knowledge of the Hispanic community and traditions.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be fully bilingual in Spanish and English, both written and spoken.
