Job description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, and we're looking for talented people who want to help.
You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
As a Product Lifecycle Engineer, you will provide electrical infrastructure support to AWS data centers, specifically within the medium voltage switchgear and transformer product category

You will collaborate with the product development team to gain a deep understanding of all facets of each product as they are being developed and tested, then take engineering ownership of the product through its operational life. You will be a global subject matter expert for electrical products deployed in data centers.
We are looking for engineers with hands-on design, manufacturing, and installation experience. The right candidate will have led product design efforts, have an understanding of electronics, and know how products should be manufactured to ensure quality

They should be capable of understanding detailed equipment specifications and evaluating the merit and risks of design changes.
Amazon has a global presence. Travel will be necessary but is not expected to exceed 30%. International support will be part of the job, and some international travel may be required

Contributions could include leading international projects and developing engineering information packages. An understanding of international electrical product design requirements is helpful but not necessary.
Key job responsibilities
- Review, update, and approve equipment submittals
- Work with global electrical equipment suppliers and manufacturers
- Build trust and relationships with different stakeholders (e.g. reliability, operations, design, compliance)
- Work on concurrent projects, in multiple geographic zones
- Understand and explain complex systems in clear and concise language
- Provide support to Field Engineering for root cause analysis, with collaboration with quality team for component-level investigations, maintenance and troubleshooting support, and operating procedure review for both mechanical and electrical issues.
- Listen to the voice of the customer to understand if there are improvements that can be made to increase product reliability or availability.
- Work with global supplier and manufacturers to design product improvements, and to oversee root cause analysis.
- Contribute to our global body of knowledge and drive a cycle of continuous improvement at a global scale
A day in the life
In this role, you'll focus on the electrical products that form the backbone of AWS data centers worldwide

You might start your day reviewing equipment submittals and specifications, then transition into a collaborative session with our product development team to understand how new electrical systems are being designed and tested. You'll work across multiple geographic zones simultaneously, sometimes supporting field engineering teams through root cause analysis investigations, other times partnering with global suppliers to explore design improvements. Your work includes translating complex electrical systems into clear documentation and guidance for operations teams, while staying connected to how your decisions impact customer reliability and availability.

You'll also contribute to our collective knowledge base, sharing insights that help drive continuous improvement across our global infrastructure.
