Bollig Engineering is a growing civil engineering firm specializing in aviation and municipal projects across Minnesota, South Dakota and North Dakota. We are passionate about rural communities and delivering high-quality, value-driven airport engineering solutions. We are currently seeking an experienced Aviation Civil Engineer who wants to take ownership of complex airport projects across the upper Midwest, serve as an integral part of a team-centered environment and share our passion for the development of rural communities consistent with Bollig's purpose and values.

Please note: Qualified candidate may be primarily experienced in civil/municipal engineering and design but is enthusiastic to learn on the job and expand expertise to aviation projects.

Aviation Civil Engineer — Job Responsibilities
  • Lead airport engineering projects from planning through construction completion as a core member of the Bollig Aviation Team, serving rural airport clients across the upper Midwest
  • Provide technical leadership and expertise to meet the requirements of appropriate agencies, including the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and MnDOT Aeronautics
  • Lead initial airport project scoping and field data collection to define client needs, project parameters and FAA grant eligibility
  • Develop and review reports and construction drawings for Airport Master Plans, Airport Layout Plans (ALPs), runway design, taxiway design, apron layout and hangar construction projects
  • Independently manage client relationships with airport sponsors from project kickoff through closeout, serving as the primary point of contact
  • Develop and review project budgets, scopes of work and fee proposals for aviation clients
  • Mentor graduate and junior aviation engineers on FAA standards, airfield design and agency coordination
  • Provide aviation engineering expertise to internal and external Bollig project stakeholders across aviation and municipal projects
  • Maintain and obtain required certifications and attend FAA and industry training as necessary
Aviation Civil Engineer — Qualifications Required
  • 4+ years of civil engineering experience, with aviation or airfield engineering experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution; licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred, or active progress toward licensure in Minnesota, North Dakota or South Dakota
  • Knowledge of airport engineering and design principles, including FAA Advisory Circulars, airport layout planning standards and MnDOT Aeronautics requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to lead airport projects and communicate effectively across organizational levels, including airport sponsors, FAA representatives and local stakeholders
  • Experience managing multiple aviation and civil projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency in civil engineering design software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D, as well as Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams
  • Flexibility to travel to airport project sites with overnight stays as required
  • Strong attention to detail, a commitment to continuous learning and an entrepreneurial can-do approach
