The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, the Assistant Manager will provide a wide range of organizational services to ensure the delivery of accommodated exams and other related services within Disability Services. The Assistant Manager is responsible for carrying out varied complex tasks to ensure the provision of high-volume exam accommodations and disability-related services. This position facilitates the provision of academic accommodations for students with learning, psychiatric, sensory, and physical disabilities, as well as students with chronic medical conditions. Disability Services (DS) provides accommodations and services to eligible students, faculty, and staff with disabilities as well as University guests.
This is an essential onsite position. Some hybrid work options may be considered when classes are not in session.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the day-to-day management of accommodated exams, including, but not limited to, printing exams as they are submitted, responding to professor inquiries, organizing exam materials for proctoring, scanning completed exams, management of note-taking services, ensuring the successful weekly submission and accurate distribution of all notes; function as backup to the Accommodations Manager to assist in the management of services and accommodations provided by Disability Services
  • Assist with the preparation of accommodated exams for a high volume of students, including scheduling exams for students, overseeing proctor scheduling and assignments, reserving rooms, and working with faculty to provide and receive information regarding exams
  • Respond to a high volume of inquiries related to disability accommodations. Prepare program correspondence as directed for registered students, disability services liaisons, and faculty regarding students' accommodation needs. Follows up as necessary and maintains records of all correspondence. Consult with Accommodations Manager or other senior staff on unique and complex accommodations requiring escalation or additional attention
  • Maintain accurate information in the electronic database systems to ensure effective management and oversight of all accommodations and related processes, effectively communicating multi-step accommodation information in a professional manner via phone, email, and in person with professors, students, and administrators
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, and supervising part-time student casual employees, who serve as note-takers, scribes, exam proctors, sign-language interpreters, and support staff (Approximately 175 part-time employees are hired each semester).
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent is required.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of related experience.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and be detail-oriented.
  • Must be able to follow complex procedures, work successfully under pressure, and have the ability to manage unexpected situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to exhibit excellent judgment and discretion, while maintaining strict confidentiality at all times.
  • Experience working as part of a team with demonstrated ability to work in a flexible, collaborative manner within a diverse and demanding work environment focused on providing high-quality services to students with disabilities.
  • Proficient computing skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with or interacting with individuals with disabilities. Previous work experience in a testing center is strongly preferred

Other Requirements
  • Work schedule: Monday-Thursday 7:30 am-3:30 pm, Friday 8:00 am -4:00 pm. When classes are not in session, the work schedule is Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:00 pm. Occasional weekend and late evenings.
