Job description

Job Title: Senior Site Safety Manager (Renewable Energy Infrastructure)
Role Overview
We are seeking a high-caliber, field-tested Senior Site Safety Manager to take absolute operational ownership of environmental health and safety (EHS) execution on our utility-scale renewable energy projects. In this senior leadership role, you will be the primary technical authority on the ground, directing site teams through the implementation of comprehensive, project-specific safety plans across complex civil and electrical scopes (including utility-scale solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and wind infrastructure).
You will act as a strategic advisor to project executives, supervise subcontractor compliance, and mentor field staff to drive proactive hazard elimination and maintain a zero-incident work environment. The ideal candidate balances strong field authority with an expert understanding of heavy electrical standards and quantitative safety metrics.
Key Responsibilities
Senior EHS Leadership & Hazard Mitigation
  • Safety Architecture: Author, implement, and audit comprehensive site-specific Project Safety Plans and strategic safety operational roadmaps.
  • Risk Isolation: Partner with project directors, superintendents, and engineering leads to evaluate oncoming project phases, analyze high-risk variables, and deploy immediate hazard prevention strategies.
  • Site Auditing & Subcontractor Care: Direct rigorous, daily jobsite safety audits; monitor subcontractor crews and aggressively enforce corrective actions for any identified safety deviations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Design and execute site-wide continuous improvement initiatives to optimize safety performance, regulatory compliance, and worker behavioral patterns.
Compliance, Investigations & Quantitative Reporting
  • Technical Standards: Ensure absolute regulatory alignment with all federal, state, and local mandates, applying an expert working knowledge of high-voltage and industrial construction standards (NFPA, NESC, ASTM, and ANSI).
  • Root-Cause Analysis: Lead advanced incident and near-miss investigations, formulating objective forensic findings and implementing immediate preventative measures.
  • Metrics Governance: Compile and submit high-level weekly safety dossiers, tracking performance data and analyzing Total Case Incident Rates (TCIR) for executive leadership review.
Field Engagement, Mentorship & Training
  • Operational Mentorship: Provide senior-level safety coaching, technical guidance, and operational mentorship to onsite safety coordinators, engineers, and field supervisors.
  • Training Cadence: Direct utility-scale safety orientations, cultivate high-engagement weekly toolbox talks, and facilitate advanced safety training modules.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Experience Baseline:
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of dedicated construction safety (EHS) experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of active EHS experience specifically within renewable energy construction (utility-scale solar, battery storage, or wind infrastructure builds).
Certifications & Licensure:
  • Valid OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
  • Active CPR/First Aid certification (Trainer designation preferred).
  • Valid state-issued driver's license with a satisfactory driving record (MVR check required).
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required. A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
Mandatory Specialized Criteria (Must meet at least TWO of the following):
  • Current, active Certified Safety Professional (CSP) credential.
  • Current, active Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) credential.
  • An EHS-related degree from an accredited academic institution.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of direct experience serving in a dedicated EHS Supervisor or EHS Manager capacity.
