Job description

Job Title: EEG Technician / Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist

Location: VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System – 11301 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90073

What You'll Do

  • Perform routine and long-term EEG monitoring including ICU and telemetry studies
  • Conduct Evoked Potential studies including Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR), Visual Evoked Response (VER), and Somatosensory Evoked Potential (SSEP)
  • Operate Nihon Kohden biomedical equipment for routine EEG and intraoperative electrocorticography
  • Apply scalp electrodes using the 10-20 system with collodion paste or saline solution
  • Assist in stereo EEG, grid/strip placements, and neurosurgical OR procedures (ECOG)
  • Select and set technical factors for invasive neurosurgical procedures including stereo EEG grip and strip EEG
  • Document completed procedures in CPRS (VA electronic medical records) same day
  • Advise biomedical engineers on equipment troubleshooting
  • Maintain current knowledge of intraoperative recording, evoked potentials, and brain death protocols
  • Collaborate with neurology staff as an active member of the patient care team
  • Comply with all VA policies, HIPAA regulations, and Joint Commission standards

What We're Looking For

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2-year clinical neurophysiology/EEG program or Bachelor of Science preferred

Certification:

  • ABRET Board Qualification minimum; Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.) diplomate preferred
  • OR documented experience performing 200+ EEGs with long-term monitoring and ICU readings
  • Completion of ABRET online coursework considered

Additional Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Valid CPR Certification
  • Current TB test
  • Hepatitis B immunization or documented immunity
  • Must pass VA background investigation and credentialing review
  • Must not appear on HHS/OIG Excluded Individuals/Entities list
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently

Benefits

  • Base Pay: $38.81 – $52.00/hr based on shift type (federally compliant with SCA Wage Determination WD 2015-5613, Los Angeles County)
  • Paid Sick Leave: 1 hour accrued per 30 hours worked, up to 56 hours/year (EO 13706)
  • Vacation: Accrues per Service Contract Act — 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 5 years
  • Professional Liability Insurance: Provided by employer
