Job description

Temperature Controls Engineer

Location: Rapid City, SD

Employment Type: Full-Time Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience + benefits

About the Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Temperature Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will design and support automated temperature and HVAC control systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional clients. You’ll work closely with project managers, technicians, and clients to deliver reliable, efficient, and intelligent building automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities

· Design and engineer temperature control and building automation systems (BAS) based on project specifications and client needs.

· Develop system architectures, wiring diagrams, sequences of operation, and control drawings.

· Program and commission DDC (Direct Digital Control) systems.

· Perform system testing and troubleshooting to ensure reliable performance and energy efficiency.

· Read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical specifications.

· Collaborate with engineers, construction teams, subcontractors, and end users during installation and start-up.

· Provide technical support, system documentation, and training for clients and field personnel.

· Stay current with new technologies, energy codes, and control strategies.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Control Systems Engineering (or related field).

· 2+ years of experience in HVAC controls, building automation, or process control engineering.

· Proficiency in DDC systems, networking, and control logic.

· Strong understanding of HVAC principles, system components, and sequences of operation.

· Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software is a plus.

· Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.

· Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team environment.
