Job description

CDR General Services is seeking a skilled and dependable Shipfitter to join our team in South Point, OH 45680. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who can work efficiently in a fast-paced industrial environment while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity. The ideal candidate is motivated, reliable, and committed to producing accurate, high-quality work.

  • Pay Rate: $29.00/hour
  • Schedule: 1st Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and shipbuilding specifications.
  • Measure, lay out, fit, and assemble structural steel and marine components.
  • Prepare materials for welding and fabrication processes.
  • Verify dimensions and ensure proper fit-up of ship and barge components.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, grinders, torches, and precision measuring equipment.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with quality standards and project specifications.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet production schedules and deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Previous ship fitting, marine fabrication, or structural steel fitting experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and fabrication specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of measuring tools, layout techniques, and structural fitting practices.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Strong commitment to safety, attendance, and productivity.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift.
