Job description

Since its incorporation in 2003, Cooper Tacia General Contracting has evolved from residential construction and renovation in Sanford, NC to large-scale manufacturing, office buildings, government and education facilities, restaurant and retail spaces, apartment complexes and airport construction throughout the southeastern United States. What has remained constant is our goal of becoming one of the most sought after, creative and dynamic project management and general contracting companies in the southeast. Cooper Tacia is committed to working toward its mission while keeping its operating principles top of mind.

We are currently seeking a self-starting and highly experienced Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Manager to build and lead our VDC efforts. • Oversee the integration of BIM in project planning, design coordination, clash detection, and construction execution.
  • Lead the transition from traditional construction methods to digital workflows, ensuring models are leveraged effectively in preconstruction, shop drawing phases and in the field.
  • Work closely with project managers, estimators, and superintendents to enhance project visualization, streamline construction processes, and improve efficiency.
  • Provide insights into BIM-related risks, support pricing decisions, and contribute to contract negotiations regarding VDC scope and deliverables.
  • Educate and train internal teams, including field staff and project managers, on visualization techniques, VDC workflows and best practices.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement the latest BIM/VDC technologies to improve presentations, project delivery and performance.
  • Use BIM models to enhance quality control, minimize errors, and improve coordination among trades.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in BIM, VDC, or construction design, with a proven track record of implementing VDC strategies in commercial construction.
  • Expertise in BIM tools such as Autodesk Revit, Navisworks Manage, Trimble SketchUp, AutoCAD, and other industry-standard software.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, estimating, and coordination principles.
  • Ability to interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules.
  • Experience leading VDC initiatives and working independently to build new processes and workflows from scratch.
