Job Posting: Prepress Graphic Designer
Position Summary:
Technomark has a great opportunity for someone with either experience or a technical degree in drafting, designing, graphic arts or mechanical engineering to use your skills to design membrane switches to meet our customers specifications. The Prepress Graphic Designer will translate customer drawings and specifications into internal artwork and documentation for membrane switches, graphic overlays, and electroluminescent lamps; interfacing with sales, estimating, and production departments.
Essential Job Functions (listing most important first):
  • Prepare electronic drawings for customer approval, working from:
    • Customer supplied graphic artwork
    • Circuit schematics and descriptions
  • Prepare customer approved designs for production, including:
    • Phototools for screen printing
    • Blueprints and detailed instructions for printing and assembly operators
  • Maintain current design standards and revision control.

Education: High school graduate or GED. Additional post-secondary education in drafting or graphics design preferred. Must have demonstrated ability in basic math and communication.
Experience: Related experience in membrane switch design or circuit layout preferred.
Required skills:
  • Good interpersonal skills to interface with sales and production departments
  • Ability to meet deadlines in fast paced working environment
  • Ability to communicate concepts to customers verbally and visually
No single skill below is absolutely required but successful candidates will possess a combination of:
  • Vector graphic design with Adobe Illustrator, especially for screen printing
  • AutoCad drafting
  • Blueprint reading and knowledge of dimensional systems and standards
  • Knowledge of color theory and standards
  • Familiarity with basics of electrical circuits and simple components
  • Experience with production methods of membrane switches or similar products

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
