What is a temp picker?

Temp Pickers are temporary workers employed by warehouses, distribution centers, or retail companies to select and gather products from inventory shelves based on customer orders. Their main responsibility is to accurately pick items, ensure correct quantities, and prepare orders for packing and shipping. This role often involves using handheld scanners, working in a fast-paced environment, and sometimes lifting or moving heavy items. Temp Pickers are typically hired through staffing agencies to meet increased demand during busy periods, such as holidays or sales events.

Temp Pickers often work in busy warehouses where meeting productivity targets and maintaining accuracy are top priorities. One common challenge is adapting quickly to changing inventory systems or picking methods, especially when assignments are short-term. Teamwork and clear communication are essential, as Temp Pickers frequently coordinate with other warehouse staff to ensure orders are fulfilled correctly and efficiently.
