Ground Operations Technician

AT Process Technologies

Berwick, ME • On-site

Full-time

Posted 18 days ago

Job description

AT Process Technologies (ATP) is a pioneering manufacturing company focused on the development and deployment of modular energetics production plants. Using breakthrough chemistry and automation that operates continuously and generates little to no waste, ATP is expanding energetics production to meet the munitions demands of the US and Allies safely, rapidly, and cost effectively.

Summary

ATP is building a core team to stand up the autonomous skidded production systems that will redefine how energetics are manufactured. As our Ground Operations Technician, you will work side-by-side with the Site Manager, engineering team, and reliability team to prepare test pads and facilities for equipment load-in, support hardware installation and testing, and serve as an extra set of hands wherever the crew needs one. This is a hands-on, physical role for someone who is comfortable operating heavy machinery, thrives on a fast-moving test pad, and takes safety seriously given the energetic materials involved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the Site Manager and crew of engineers to prepare test pads and facilities for equipment load-in and load-out

  • Set up and break down test configurations, staging areas, and temporary infrastructure ahead of test events

  • Support installation, positioning, and rigging of skids, process equipment, and test hardware at ATP and customer sites

  • Drive and operate heavy machinery and material handling equipment (forklifts, telehandlers, skid steers, cranes) to move and place equipment

  • Serve as an extra set of hands for the engineering and reliability teams during setup, testing, and teardown

  • Assist with rigging, hoisting, and safe movement of heavy or sensitive equipment and components

  • Ensure the test pad is fully ready ahead of scheduled test events, flagging any readiness gaps to the Site Manager and engineering team

  • Support hardware-in-the-loop testing, commissioning, and factory/site acceptance testing alongside engineers

  • Follow and help enforce site safety protocols, especially those specific to handling and testing energetic materials

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe test pad and field work environment

  • Keep punch lists, equipment logs, and as-built/as-run documentation accurate and up to date

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical/trade school training a plus

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in ground operations, field service, industrial maintenance, or a similar physical/technical role

  • Experience operating heavy equipment (forklifts, telehandlers, skid steers, or similar); valid license/certification a plus

  • Comfortable with rigging, lifting, and moving heavy equipment safely

  • Ability to work hands-on outdoors and in test pad, field, and plant environments in all weather conditions

  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through on site readiness and safety

  • Ability to work as part of a crew, take direction in a fast-paced test environment, and communicate issues clearly

Preferred Qualifications

  • EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) background or equivalent military/industrial explosives handling experience, given the nature of energetics production

  • Experience supporting test operations, range operations, or launch/static-fire ground operations

  • Crane and/or rigging certification (e.g., NCCCO, NCCER) or equivalent hands-on rigging experience

  • Experience assembling or supporting skidded/modular equipment builds

  • Working knowledge of mechanical drawings, P&IDs, or site layout drawings

  • Experience in defense, aerospace, energetics, or other regulated manufacturing environments

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs

  • U.S. Person and ability to obtain a security clearance

  • Ability to work on-site and travel as needed
