The RISE program at McKinley-ALC in St. Cloud, Minnesota, is an alternative learning program designed specifically to meet the individualized educational and social-emotional needs of middle school students referred by their home school to the program.
TYPE OF POSITION:
Hourly; 10-month
Hours may vary based on program needs
REPORTS TO:
Director of Media/Technology, Building Principals, Immediate Supervisor
SUPERVISION:
None
SALARY:
$19.00/hr (starting salary for new hires)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
• High School or GED Diploma
Highly Qualified (HQ) status demonstrated through one of the following:
• 60 college credits (or AA/AS degree) with a GPA of 2.0 or higher
• Passing score on the Paraeducator Exam (contact district for information)
Preferred
• Similar job-related experience
• Bilingual
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Instructional Paraeducator is responsible for assisting and encouraging students to learn the specialty under the direction of a professional and to assist students in preparing their lessons for all subject areas when in the classroom, Resource Center, computer lab; and occcsional media support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Supervising/assisting students during instructional and non-instructional activities
• Maintaining awareness and observing student's activities/actions; assessing behavior including communicating rules, expectations and consequences
• Promote School District rules, policies, procedures, Mission Statement and Core Values
• Assists in the development and maintenance of a positive learning environment
• Adhere to federal, state and district student data confidentiality and privacy laws
• Observe, monitor, and communicate student progress to teachers
• Performing record keeping and clerical functions to support the administrator or teacher
• Serve as resource provider to students/staff/volunteers regarding materials/technological equipment
• Other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL FACTORS:
• The ability to stand and/or walk for long periods of time; may be exposed to adverse weather
• Frequent: walking, standing, sitting, hearing, talking, and seeing
• Light Work: exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
