Job description

Vertiv Lincoln, Nebraska is looking for a Production Supervisor - Metals 1st shift. The Production Supervisor will assist in managing the production floor to produce the final product.  Follow standard work methods and practice safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.  Train employees in proper work methods and procedures. Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines or production lines.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensuring the production floor and warehouse operate in a safe manner.
  • Ensure proper staffing for the number of machines or production lines running i.e. shutting machines or lines down, sending employees home when necessary due to lack of work.
  • Conduct evaluations and mid-term assessments on assigned personnel.
  • Responsible for ensuring that product quality meets specifications and criteria set forth by quality spec sheets and management expectations. 
  • Communicate any concerns or changes in current processes to all employees.
  • Set production quotas and give feedback in relation to performance to those expectations.
  • Make production related decisions, which includes planning work cell/product transition assignment of tasks, material/equipment handling and allocation of resources.
  • Review pertinent information with the supervisor coming on to relieve your shift - participate in shift change meetings.
  • Assure necessary adjustments to machines or production lines are made to maintain product quality.
  • Eliminate overtime unless approved by the Production Manager. 
  • Prepare operators for shift startup.
  • Support operators as necessary to keep product moving through the work cell.
  • Follow instructions assigned by the engineers & managers.
  • Accurately report production information to managers.
  • Keep work areas clean and orderly.
  • Assist in identifying continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Perform duties as backup during absence of Production Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 to 4 years' Supervisory experience.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong leadership skils
  • MS Office and ERP systems experience
  • Ability to develop and coach a diverse team
  • Knowledge of ISO and Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma
  • CNC Operating Experience preferred
  • Proficient in use of measuring instruments, i.e. calipers, protractors, etc.

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Light manufacturing
  • Fork Lift operations desirable
