Job description

Position Information Amended: 7/30/24 Shift pay: 5% additional pay for evening shift work; 7 % additional pay for night shift work. Applicants must be willing to work any shift of a 24-hour period and any 5 of 7 days. Examinations: Appraisal (Weight 100%): of training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the work based on any combination of the following: Investigation, written exam and rating of application.

Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process. Minimum Qualifications / Employment Standards: High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent, AND three years of progressively responsible clerical, general computer and office experience directly related to the area of assignment, including one year of experience as a Sheriff's Support Technician or its equivalent OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skill to successfully perform the essential duties of the job

Certification of Typing/Keyboarding speed of 50 net words per minute ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Some Positions May Require: Possession of a Valid California Driver's License Transcription speed of 50 net words per minute APPLICANTS MUST ATTACH a copy of their typing certificate, verifying a typing speed of fifty (50) net words per minute, to their application. Certificates must have been issued within the last two years and must conform to the testing standards adopted by the Civil Service Commission. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve-months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission. This position works within the Kern County Sheriff's Office.
