Job Title: Senior Backend Developer (Java & Spring Boot)
Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned, hands-on Senior Backend Developer with deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and database technologies to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you will play a pivotal architectural and development part in designing, building, and maintaining scalable, high-performance backend applications. You will champion clean code standards, optimize database performance, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers to foster technical growth across the team.
This is a critical, on-site engineering leadership position for a professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced product environment. You will architect robust microservices-based solutions, contribute to technical roadmaps, and collaborate closely with product managers, QA, DevOps, and frontend teams. Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Engineering
• Application Design: Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance backend applications utilizing Java and Spring Boot.
• Microservices Architecture: Architect and implement microservices-based solutions; actively contribute to system design discussions and architectural roadmaps.
• Code Quality: Write clean, efficient, testable, and well-documented code adhering strictly to design patterns, SOLID principles, and clean code practices.
• Database Optimization: Design, architect, and optimize relational database schemas, complex queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies for high throughput and scalability.
Collaboration & Leadership
• Mentorship: Mentor junior and mid-level developers, providing constructive code reviews and fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
• Cross-Functional Delivery: Collaborate seamlessly with product management, QA, DevOps, and frontend engineering teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose, debug, and resolve complex production incidents to ensure high availability and reliability standards are met.
• DevOps & CI/CD: Contribute to CI/CD pipeline enhancements, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and automated testing practices (JUnit/Mockito, TDD).
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Experience Baseline: Minimum of 10+ years of professional software development experience, with deep specialization in Java engineering.
• Technical Mastery:
oStrong, hands-on expertise with Spring Boot and the broader Spring Framework (Spring MVC, Spring Data, Spring Security).
oProven experience architecting and building production-grade microservices architectures.
oDeep expertise in relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) with strong command over schema design and query optimization.
oSolid understanding of RESTful API design principles and ORM frameworks (Hibernate/JPA).
oProficiency with build tools (Maven/Gradle), version control (Git), and automated testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito).
oFamiliarity with containerization/orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes) and message queuing systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
oGeneral knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and enterprise CI/CD workflows.
• Core Competencies: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent verbal and written communication abilities; proven capacity to work independently and drive technical initiatives.
Preferred Attributes
• Prior experience within fast-paced consumer, retail, or eCommerce product environments.
• Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis).
• Familiarity with application monitoring and performance tuning tools (e.g., New Relic, Datadog, Splunk).
• Prior background in a technical leadership, tech lead, or formal mentorship role.
