Their primary responsibility is to monitor the premises for potential fire hazards and respond quickly in case of an emergency. They are required when hot work (like welding or cutting) is being performed or when fire alarms or sprinkler systems are out of service. F02 Fire Guards must complete and pass the FDNY's F-02 examination to receive their certification. This ensures they understand fire safety protocols and emergency procedures for construction and temporary sites.

To thrive as a Temp F02 Fire Guard, you need knowledge of fire prevention protocols, emergency response procedures, and must hold a valid F-02 Certificate of Fitness from the FDNY. Familiarity with fire alarm systems, fire extinguishers, and logbook recordkeeping is typically required. Attention to detail, strong observation skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are crucial soft skills for this role.
