Cook to join our vibrant, mission-driven hospice café team. This
full-time position works
Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m starting
10/19/2026 and ends 2/5/2027 in our Gerstenberg location in
West Palm Beach.
This is not your typical dietary role-you'll be part of a creative, compassionate environment where food, hospitality, and human connection come together to uplift patients and families. From special events to everyday moments of care, this role helps bring comfort, dignity, and joy to those in the final chapters of life while promoting safe, high-quality food practices across our Care Centers. This position plays a vital part in ensuring our programs and services meet regulatory dietary requirements and reflect best practices that benefit our patients, families, and community.
What You'll Do:
- Prepares, cooks and serves meals for patients, staff and visitors.
- Food preparation, washing vegetables, assisting with catering orders.
- Maintain accurate temperature logs for food storage and meal service areas.
- Set up and restock food stations, salad bars, or beverage stations as needed.
- Follow special diet guidelines including diabetic, low-sodium, gluten-free, or allergy-specific meals.
- Provide friendly and respectful service to patients, residents, staff, and visitors.
- Follow all facility policies and procedures related to food handling and dietary care.

What You'll Need:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in food service or healthcare settings preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions in English.
- Basic understanding of nutrition, sanitation, and food safety practices (training provided).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 25-50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
