Job description

Responsibilities*
The University of Michigan, School of Nursing is currently seeking a Research Assistant to support the Principal Investigator on two grant funded studies. The first is a pilot intervention study to improve physical activity behaviors of older adults with pre-frailty who reside in independent living communities. The second study assesses whether smartphone-based cognitive tests, paired with physical activity monitoring can be used to measure cognitive function and physical acitivity in real time among older adults in assisted living communities.
The specific duties of the position include (but are not limited to):
  • Participate in the recruitment, screening, scheduling, and follow-up of research participants.
  • Manage, track, and record data from physical activity monitors, physical performance tests, cognitive tests, and survey questionnaires.
  • General administrative support of the project, data collection, analysis, and dissemination.

Desired Qualifications*
Education and Experience:
  • Kinesiology or physical rehabilitation experience/training preferred.
  • Prior research experience preferred.
  • Candidate must have excellent communication skills, with the ability to receive and convey information clearly and concisely for various mediums.
  • Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office products (including Word, Excel).

Attributes:
  • Candidate must have excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated time management and relationship building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision with diverse teams of people in a diplomatic, collaborative and effective manner.
  • Knowledge or ability to learn Qualtrics and RedCap preferred.
  • Ability to serve diverse populations.
  • A high degree of initiative and resourcefulness
  • Ability to travel to senior living communities is Southeast Michigan. Must have a valid driver's license.
