Apex Placement & Consulting has partnered with an exciting manufacturing organization looking to add a CONTROLS ENGINEER to their already amazing team. Their primary responsibility will be to support the design, programming, installation, and improvement of automated manufacturing equipment and control systems. Keep reading for more details!
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU:
- 1st shift 8:00am-5:00pm
- Competitive hourly wage
- Temporary position up to 12 months
WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE:
- Design and modify electrical and control wiring schematics using CAD software
- Program and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems (Allen Bradley preferred)
- Support installation, start-up, and debugging of automated equipment
- Perform system interfacing, power calculations, and cable sizing
- Develop and update machine logic, relay logic, and control architecture
- Assist with upgrades to existing machinery, fixtures, and assembly lines
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and support maintenance team as needed
- Create and maintain documentation for controls systems and processes
- Support continuous improvement initiatives including error proofing and vision systems
- Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and external partners on projects
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Experience with PLC programming, HMI development, and industrial automation
- Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
- Knowledge of machine controls, robotics, and automated assembly equipment
- Ability to read and create electrical schematics and technical drawings
- Familiarity with Allen Bradley SLC/PLC 5, PanelView, or similar platforms
- Experience supporting equipment start-ups and process improvements
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical/Automation Engineering preferred or equivalent experience
- 3–5+ years of hands-on controls experience in manufacturing is ideal
