Job description

Overview
We are seeking a motivated CAD drafter in the Bridgeport, CT area. This position requires knowledge of steel fabrication processes, including CNC/plasma machinery, welding, fastening, and tolerances. The CAD Drafter will ensure drawings are accurate, practical, and production-ready, while supporting efficient, safe, and high-quality fabrication.
Responsibilities
  • Develops detailed design drawings and specifications using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
  • Coordinates with and consults colleagues to design, layout, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.
  • Computes mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using computer-assisted equipment.
  • Manipulates field measurements per customer and sales orders.
  • Allocates materials to provide the highest yield, utilizing remnants when available.
  • Meets with the customer to create preliminary designs and presents them to the customer for approval or revision.
  • Develops an understanding of multiple CAD systems to program various sets of machinery.
  • Create products by cutting, forming, and joining metal materials in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
  • Operate, program, or support fabrication equipment, including CNC machines, plasma cutters, and other machinery.
  • Attends weekly production meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
  • Fabrication/manufacturing Experience.
  • General knowledge of 2D/CAD/Draft Sight.
  • Ability to correctly read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
  • Ability to effectively plan and organize work activities independent of direct supervision; work alone and in a team environment.
  • Communication and time management skills.
