Temp Cleaner information

What is a temp cleaner?

Temp cleaners are cleaning professionals who are hired on a temporary basis to perform cleaning tasks in various settings, such as offices, schools, hospitals, or industrial facilities. They may be employed directly by an organization to cover staff absences, busy periods, or special projects, or they might work through staffing agencies that place them at different job sites as needed. Temp cleaners are responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene, which can include sweeping, mopping, dusting, sanitizing surfaces, and emptying trash. Their assignments can vary in duration from a single day to several weeks or months, depending on the employer's needs.

What are some common challenges temp cleaners face when working in different environments?

Temp Cleaners often adapt to various workspaces, from offices to industrial sites, each with its own cleaning protocols and safety guidelines. A key challenge is quickly learning the specific requirements and expectations of each assignment, including handling different cleaning products and equipment. Time management is essential, as shifts may be short and tasks need to be completed efficiently. Being proactive in communicating with supervisors and team members helps ensure a smooth workflow and successful completion of tasks.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a temp cleaner, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Temp Cleaner, you need attention to detail, basic cleaning knowledge, and physical stamina, often with no formal education required but some experience preferred. Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, equipment like vacuums and floor buffers, and adherence to safety procedures are important technical aspects. Reliability, time management, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are valuable soft skills. These abilities ensure thorough, efficient cleaning, maintain safety standards, and contribute to a positive environment for clients and colleagues.

Job description

Gainesville, Florida (some extended day travel required)
About Us
Comfort Temp Company has been committed to providing unparalleled comfort solutions for our customers since 1985. With a steadfast dedication to integrity and excellence, we consistently strive to exceed expectations in every interaction. Our core values, Do what it takes, Do what you say, Do it with purpose, Do the right thing, serve as guiding principles, shaping our actions and defining our culture. CT Mechanical is our mechanical construction division, and this role supports the plumbing side of that work.
Job Summary
CT Mechanical is hiring a Warehouse Associate and Driver dedicated to the plumbing side of our construction work. This is a plumbing specific role. You will check in, verify, and sort plumbing materials for commercial projects, keep the warehouse and material shed organized and accounted for, and help our project managers stay ahead of missing items and back orders. You will work closely with the warehouse team to make sure the right materials are on hand and ready when our field crews need them. The role also includes local driving, including quick runs to supply houses for immediate pickups so our field crews can stay on the job.
Role and Responsibilities
  • Check in, verify, and sort incoming plumbing materials for plumbing projects, using basic plumbing product knowledge to confirm the right items were received with a packing list and order details.
  • Keep the warehouse and material shed clean, organized, and fully accounted for so materials are easy to find and easy to track.
  • Identify missing materials, short shipments, and back orders, and communicate what is still needed to the project managers.
  • Support the warehouse team with day to day receiving, staging, and material organization.
  • Make local runs to supply houses for immediate pickups when the field needs materials fast, keeping field crews on the job instead of chasing parts.
  • Drive to project sites as needed to drop off, pick up, or verify materials.
  • Stage and prepare materials so they are ready for field crews and project timelines.
  • Perform regular checks on assigned company vehicles for fluid levels, tire pressure, and cleanliness, and report any safety or service needs.
  • Help maintain accurate records of materials received, staged, and issued. Tickets are signed out when material leaves warehouse.
  • Other related work as required.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Basic working knowledge of plumbing products and materials, residential and commercial, enough to check in and sort accurately.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for tracking and accounting for materials.
  • Ability to spot discrepancies, short shipments, and back orders and communicate them clearly.
  • Reliable team member who works well with the warehouse team, project managers, and field crews.
  • Clear communication skills, both spoken and written.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and records.
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable with local driving and occasional extended day travel to project sites.

Preferred (Nice to Have)
  • Prior experience in a plumbing or mechanical construction warehouse, or in a plumbing supply house.
  • Familiarity with reading material lists, pick tickets, or project submittals.
  • Forklift experience.

Company Culture
At Comfort Temp Company, we do not hang our values on a wall and forget about them. Do what you say. Do what it takes. Walk with purpose. Do the right thing. These are the standards we hold each other to, in the field, in the office, and in every conversation. We invest in our people, recognize the work that gets done, and make room for careers that actually grow. If you want a place where your effort shows up and matters, this is it.
Application Instructions
If this role sounds like the right fit, we want to hear from you. Submit your resume to brandon@comforttemp.com. A cover letter is welcome but not required. Tell us what you bring and why this opportunity makes sense for you.
