Senior Telecommunications Specialist (Telecom Expense Management)
Location: Kansas City, MO
Work Arrangement: Onsite – 5 days/week

About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized and processdriven Senior Telecommunications Specialist to lead the implementation, optimization, and ongoing management of an enterprise telecom expense management program.
This role is ideal for someone who excels at bringing order, visibility, and cost control to complex telecom environments—covering offices, field teams, and construction sites across a large national footprint.
You’ll take ownership of the entire telecom lifecycle, from circuit sourcing and provisioning through invoice validation, financial oversight, vendor management, and reporting.
What You’ll Do1. Lead TEM Platform Implementation
  • Configure and deploy a telecom expense management platform across fixed, wireless, cellular, and satellite services.
  • Migrate historical billing, inventory, and asset data.
  • Build automated workflows for invoice routing, validation, approval, and payment.
  • Establish standardized reporting and documentation practices.
2. Manage the Full Circuit Lifecycle
  • Oversee sourcing, ordering, provisioning, optimization, and disconnect activities.
  • Ensure timely coordination of circuits and internet services for office locations and project sites.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of circuits, bandwidth, vendors, contract terms, and hardware (MiFis, Cradlepoints, cellularenabled tablets).
  • Track lifecycle events such as upgrades, suspensions, and demobilizations.
3. Drive Invoice Accuracy & Financial Control
  • Collect and validate telecom invoices across carriers.
  • Confirm charges match contracts, inventory records, usage, and provisioning.
  • Identify billing errors, file disputes, and secure credits.
  • Analyze costsaving opportunities through consolidation and optimization.
  • Maintain complete audit history and monthly financial reporting.
4. Coordinate With Telecom Carriers & Internal Teams
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with major carriers and service providers.
  • Support shortterm and longterm connectivity needs for multiple business units.
  • Negotiate pricing, service levels, and contract structures.
  • Align telecom procurement and management practices with the organization’s financial strategy.
5. Deliver Reporting & Business Intelligence
  • Create dashboards and reporting that provide visibility into telecom spend and service usage.
  • Monitor KPIs such as uptime, SLA performance, invoice accuracy, and dispute recovery.
  • Identify spend trends, anomalies, and optimization opportunities.
  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting for telecom and networkrelated costs.
What You Need to SucceedRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology or a related field.
  • 7+ years of telecommunications engineering experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience in telecom expense management, network procurement, or IT asset management.
  • Handson experience with TEM platforms (e.g., Brightfin, Calero, Tangoe).
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Circuit provisioning
    • Telecom billing structures
    • Mobile and data services
  • Experience coordinating with multiple vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with ERP or financial systems.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience integrating TEM platforms with ServiceNow or finance systems.
  • Knowledge of telecom contracts and carrier negotiation.
  • Familiarity with fiber, broadband, LTE, SDWAN, and related technologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects independently.
  • Exposure to field operations or construction site connectivity needs.
