Job description


Department: Parts

Reports to: Store Manager or Aftermarket Manager

Supervises: May supervise Parts Counter Salesperson, Parts and Service Outside Sales Representative, and other Parts Staff

Purpose:

Manages parts operations within the dealership to provide the highest level of external and internal customer satisfaction while maximizing return on investment through parts sales, inventory control, and expense control. Optimizes parts department processes. Attracts, retains, and effectively engages department personnel.

Responsibilities:


  1. Develops, communicates, enforces and monitors effective Parts Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction
  2. Promotes and merchandises parts and accessories in conjunction with other store locations
  3. Creates annual Parts Department goals and budget, in alignment with the organization’s financial and operational objectives
  4. Develops and executes Parts Department marketing plan and monitors monthly to ensure achievement of departmental goals
  5. Maintains an accurate and effective parts inventory control system that includes a perpetual and/or annual physical inventory and proper counter procedures
  6. Submits all parts warranty and return claims within the required time frame to receive maximum credit
  7. Maximizes use of all order discount programs to achieve management stock order goals
  8. Ensures all department tools, equipment and vehicles are in good working order and in DOT vehicles are in compliance
  9. Manages recruiting, staffing and employee development activities for employees reporting to this position; including coaching sessions regarding non compliance with established protocols (GeoTab and Lytx guidelines)

Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:


  1. 1+ years experience in Parts Department operations
  2. Experience leading others
  3. Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions
  4. Ability to write and speak effectively to individuals and groups
  5. Basic understanding of financial principles relative to Parts Department operations
  6. Ability to analyze and interpret internal reports
  7. Ability to work extended hours and weekends
  8. Excellent customer service skills
  9. High School Diploma or equivalent experience
