At Kanaan Communications, LLC, as a Coax Splicer II, you'll work in telecommunications construction, splicing coaxial system networks for communication companies that provide internet, cable TV, and telephone services.

What you'll do
  • Perform tasks associated with electronic upgrades and splicing of coaxial cable, both aerial and underground
  • Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment post-installation
  • Ensure all splicing operations meet strict customer and industry standards
  • Safely navigate working at different heights, from underground to in the air
  • Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles, including fluid checks
  • Document work performed through daily production reports, including marking up maps and keeping correct material usage records
  • Other duties as assigned

What you'll need
  • To be 18 years of age or older
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company
  • High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
  • Valid State driver's license (cannot be considered Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card
  • At least two years of coax splicing experience

Additional qualifications
  • Certified pole climber or capable of demonstrating proficiency as a pole climber, is preferred
  • Knowledge of telecommunications network structure

Physical abilities & exposures
  • Routinely: work at heights & in confined spaces, operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motion, work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds, use keyboard and mouse
  • Occasionally: use ladder and gaffs for climbing poles
