Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry Stepdown unit position requiring cardiac nursing experience and a willingness to precept new staff.

Details
  • Work in a 30-bed Acute Care Cardiac Telemetry Stepdown Intermediate Care unit
  • Care for patients with cardiac disease processes including chest pain, congestive heart failure, advanced heart failure, and syncope
  • Support patients undergoing echocardiograms, stress tests, diagnostic and interventional heart catheterization, Mitraclip, Watchman, Tykosyn initiation, and TAVR procedures
  • Unit may overflow to general med/surg patients or other non-cardiac patients as needed
  • Day shift schedule from 06:45 to 19:15
  • 13-week assignment
  • Primary floating assignment to one of five other acute care med/surg units typically staffed at a 5:1 ratio
Requirements
  • Active RN license (TX or Compact) currently in hand
  • BLS certification required (AHA)
  • ACLS certification required (AHA)
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification required
  • Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
  • Cardiac telemetry nursing experience required
  • Nursys license verification required within 30 days prior to start
Additional Information
  • Provide direct patient care for a cardiac telemetry population while helping stabilize unit staffing
  • Expected to precept and train newly hired staff, including RN Residents, as the unit rebuilds its core team
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of engagement and willingness to mentor others
  • COVID vaccination is not required
  • Local candidates are accepted, though a radius rule may apply affecting pay rate
  • First-time travelers may be considered for this position
