Job description

Overview

We are seeking a Monitor Technician , sometimes referred to as our Telemetry Monitor Technician (Tech) or Tele Monitor Tech. A Tele Monitor Tech will be responsible for observing and interpreting patients’ heart rhythms and other vital data transmitted by telemetry equipment. This role is crucial for identifying and alerting the medical team to any abnormalities or critical changes in a patient’s cardiac or health status. The Monitor Technician detects early warning signs of cardiac events, ensuring timely intervention, and improving patient outcomes in our telemetry unit.

Employment Type : Full Time

Shifts Available: Nights

Hours: 12-hour shifts – 7:00pm to 7:00am

Location : Dallas Regional Medical Center - Mesquite, TX

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • C ardiac monitoring, observe and interpret heart rhythms (ECG/EKG) displayed on telemetry monitors

  • R ecognize normal and abnormal cardiac patterns, such as arrhythmias, and document findings

  • N otify nurses or physicians of any significant changes in a patient’s heart rhythm or vital signs promptly, escalate critical issues (e.g., life-threatening) immediately

  • S et up, maintain , and troubleshoot telemetry equipment, including electrodes and monitors

  • E nsure proper signal transmission and resolve issues with poor connections or faulty equipment

  • R ecord telemetry readings in the patient’s medical record for documentation and review, generate rhythm strips for analysis by the medical team

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers . You must have: 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience required for all new hires, effective April 2014.

  • Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate upon hire and maintain current.

  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

  • Six months previous experience as Monitor Technician preferred.
