Manager, Software Engineering
Job Description:
Define and execute the development strategy for Costco Travel's E-Commerce websites, platform, and applications. Ensure proper policies and procedures are in place to maintain stringent architecture, design, and development standards. Apply extensive knowledge of large, highly available, distributed web development environments with an emphasis on e-Commerce applications. Manage technical teams that build and develop features and tools for Costco's e-Commerce, call-center, web services, and applications. Provide leadership, mentoring, coaching, and career development planning for team members. Participate in defining the strategic direction and technology roadmap for Costco Travel's technology applications. Work with team and peers to define and implement standards and best practices for software development and to support the Technology department's service level agreement. Drive adoption and ensure adherence to the software development lifecycle (SDLC). Drive all assigned projects leveraging the project execution framework. Participate in architecture, design, and code review sessions as a coordinator, owner, reader, or observer. Telecommuting permitted up to 20% within the same MSA.
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Education: Master's or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Two years of experience in:
    • Designing and developing client/server models and/or web-based applications using Java Enterprise Editions technologies (such as Servlet, Java Server Pages, or Spring);
    • Designing and developing database technologies with Java Database Connectivity or an equivalent data-tier framework to connect to relational databases or No-SQL databases;
    • Using relational databases (such as MS-SQL Server or T-SQL) to create and modify tables, data structures, stored procedures, and other database functions;
    • Developing REST-ful services using Java technologies like Spring Boot or Jersey;
    • Developing front-end frameworks, unit-testing using JUnit and JMockit, and integrations with Global Distribution Systems such as Sabre;
    • Developing for continuous integration and continuous deployment environments using Jenkins;
    • Analyzing error logs in Splunk, creating dashboards, and tracking code quality;
    • Developing software for the IT travel industry and Online Travel Agent systems, in accordance with Open Travel Alliance (OTA) standards;
    • Providing technical guidance and mentoring for engineers and developers on the team; and
    • Deep knowledge of the Scaled Agile Framework methodology.
