Telecommute medical coders organize and process insurance billing and claims. These are remote positions; you may be on the staff of a private medical practice, hospital, or another medical facility, or you may work for a medical coding agency. In this role, you review each medical claim, checking for the accuracy of services provided to each patient. Once you have confirmed treatment, you process each request using the medical coding system used by insurance companies to ensure your employer is reimbursed for their services. Each medical procedure is assigned a particular medical code, so medical coders must be very careful when processing their claims to avoid the claim being denied by the insurance company for inaccuracy. This position may be full-time or part-time.
