The Associate Director, Paid Digital Media is responsible for leading the overall paid digital media strategy, planning, execution, and performance across the OptumRx marketing portfolio. This role provides strategic direction for media investments, develops data-driven marketing approaches, and ensures campaigns deliver measurable business outcomes while maximizing the effectiveness of media spend. As a hands-on leader, this role partners closely with cross-functional stakeholders to develop integrated media plans, guide campaign execution and optimization, and translate complex performance data into clear, actionable insights for business leaders. Success in this role requires solid leadership, the ability to influence and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, sound decision-making, and a collaborative approach to driving marketing strategy, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development/implementation of paid digital media strategies that align with OptumRx business objectives, marketing priorities, and growth goals
  • Develop annual and campaign-level media investment strategies, including channel mix, audience strategy, budget allocation, and measurement frameworks to maximize business impact
  • Partner with business and marketing leaders to translate business objectives into paid media strategies, providing strategic recommendations and influencing media investment decisions
  • Provide strategic direction and governance to the paid media execution, ensuring campaign execution aligns with approved strategies, business priorities, performance expectations, and regulatory requirements
  • Evaluate paid media performance, business outcomes, and market trends to refine strategies, optimize media investments, and improve future marketing performance
  • Present paid media strategies, investment recommendations, campaign performance, and business impact to senior leadership through clear, data-driven storytelling
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with marketing, analytics, finance, creative, legal, compliance, and other business partners to ensure successful delivery of paid media initiatives
  • Drive continuous improvement of paid media capabilities, operational processes, governance, and measurement practices to increase efficiency, scalability, and marketing effectiveness
  • Serve as the paid digital media subject matter expert by identifying emerging trends, championing innovation, and mentoring team members to strengthen organizational capabilities

Required Qualifications:
  • 9+ years marketing/advertising experience, with an emphasis in multi-tactic campaign management (Paid Search, Paid Social and Display) focused on performance-based marketing
  • Experience working in a large matrix organization
  • Experience managing Marketing budgets
  • Proven strategic and analytic thinker plus tactical reporting and measurement implementer
  • Proven coalition-builder and interpersonal communicator
  • Proven solid attention to detail within context of campaign performance, metrics, and reporting
  • Proven solid communication skills, working across a variety of teams and leaders within forecasting process

  • Background in the healthcare industry, financial services, and B2B Marketing

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $112,700 - $193,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
